5 Months Old

Wow! Hannah is already five months old. I can't believe how quickly time goes by. Everyone's advice to me was to enjoy each stage because it would quickly be over. I have and it does! I think each new stage is my favorite. It's amazing what each month, week, day brings. Her little personality shines through more each day. It was tough to get good pictures this month and I expect it will get harder and harder. I couldn't keep her in one place or keep her fingers/hands out of her mouth. Her white hair bow is starting to look a tad bit less out of place, but more importantly, she is getting hair to put it in. She's always had enough for me to barely fasten it in, but this month it was anchored in pretty firmly. Here are a few highlights from this month (I don't have time to put them all):
  • eats rice cereal while sitting in her highchair (but will only do it if she isn't too tired)
  • LOVES Kodak. It's unreal how much.
  • reaches for objects (Kodak was the first thing she reached for)
  • plays contently on her stomach
  • consistently rolls over both ways
  • scoots all around
  • puts EVERYTHING in her mouth
  • is obsessed with Mommy's water bottles (she sure does see them enough)
  • has had 1 bottle of formula (that poopy diaper was fun...) so far
  • has milk 5 times a day
  • sticks her bottom lip WAY out when she isn't happy about something (yikes!!)
  • has quite a temper
  • gets as mad as a hornet and doesn't calm down easily
  • puts herself to sleep for naps and bedtime (if she cries it's usually on a few minutes)
  • likes to sleep on her side or stomach (we flip her back several times a night but...)
  • according to our bathroom scale she weighs around 16 pounds
  • is finally starting to outgrow some of her 3 months clothes, is finaly starting to fit into some of her 3 month clothes!
I could keep going, and am sure I have missed something special, but I don't want to bore you all!

Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend our little family headed down to one of our favorite places to go, Hilton Head. Hilton Head has the best bike trails and Justin and I just love the atmosphere and area. Justin had the week off so we were able to head on down after I got home from school on Friday. We were nervous about a few things. First of all, Hannah has not proven to be a good traveler (really she's only traveled once before), and she doesn't do well being off of her routine. The weather was also forecast to be pretty bad. This wasn't good for us, because we planned to spend the entire weekend outside. We were thrilled by how things turned out though. Hannah had an EXCELLENT weekend. She didn't sleep as well at night, but she was in a hotel pack-n-play and Justin and I were in the room with her. She actually took naps during the weekend, and that helped oh so much!

On Saturday we woke up to beautiful blue skies. We had amazing weather! Justin hooked up Hannah's bike trailer and we headed out. We ended up biking exactly 20 miles that afternoon (we did take a break for lunch!) and Hannah had a great time. She played, she talked, she slept, and only had very minimal fussing (for those who know Hannah, know this is a great thing!). We rode on the beach and on land and had an amazing time.

When we got back to the hotel, there was still a little daylight left so we hung out in the pool. Hannah got to swim in the big pool for the first time. She LOVED it. She wouldn't stop smiling and kicking her feet. We hope we have a little fish on our hands.

Sunday we headed out to the beach. Stephanie let us use her baby tent and we set it up to keep Hannah out of the sun the best we could. Justin and I took turns with her out at the water and she was so much fun. She enjoyed the sand under her feet, especially when the tide took the water out and her feet sank. We absolutely wore her out!

It was such a great family weekend, and we are lucky the weather (and Hannah) cooperated with us.

Mr. Mom

This past week Justin had a vacation week. He got to stay at home and be "Mr. Mom". He and Hannah had some great quality time. He also had some help. Thanks Aunt Jaime and Nana for coming so Justin could get a little work done. This picture wasn't taken last week (obviously, if he was off work) but the week before when Justin happened to be delivering in our neighborhood!

Confessions of a Gamecock Girl

Dear Uncle Jeff,

Thank you for my new teddy bear. I love to suck on his ears. Thank you for my cheerleading outfit. I loved wearing it, even though I wasn't a happy girl or good girl during the game. Hopefully the next time I wear it I won't cry and scream the whole time while a bunch of Mommy and Daddy's friends are trying to watch the game.

Love,
Hannah

Dear Mrs. Katy and Mr. Kevin,

Thank you for inviting me, Mommy, and Daddy to your house to watch the Gamecock game on your huge wall. I'm very, very sorry I screamed and cried the whole time. I'm glad Daddy got to stay with you and watch the rest of the game without me. After he fed me I went home and went straight to bed!

Love,
Hannah

Labor Day Weekend, part 2

Hannah didn't sleep much over the long weekend. She did great on the car ride Friday night, but that was only because we took her out of bed, asleep, and traveled in the middle of the night. The rest of the weekend was a struggle. She didn't want to be left out. Everyone helped try to get her to sleep. What stinks is that for the entire week before, we'd just been putting her down in bed and she would fall asleep on her on her own withing minutes. Ha! That routine wasn't established enough. It didn't work, in fact not much did. There is a picture on the first round of pictures of her asleep in her umbrella stroller. Justin did lots of walking up and down the only paved part of the road. Finally on Monday, right before we left, she fell asleep while playing on her mat on the porch. WHEW!

Labor Day Weekend, part 1

I will post part 2 after I get the pictures from Nana's camera!

New High Chair

Okay, so I am very late in posting this, but two weekends ago we finally went to Babies R Us and bought our highchair. Hannah actually likes it! She will sit in it to eat and then play with her washcloth (I think that's her favorite part of eating) and be content for me to wash bottles. It's gotten to be a good evening routine. Nana said Hannah sat in it today while she did a few things and Hannah managed to figure out that the harder you bang the rattle, the louder the noise is!

First Professional Pictures

Hannah's "Favorite Aunt Jess" (as Jessica says, I can be her "Favorite Aunt Jess because I'm the only one!) gave us a Sears gift card to use at their Portrait Studio as a Christmas gift. We finally got around to it this past weekend (I know, I know...I"m just now posting it). Hannah did a great job. She had a complete melt down for the rest of the day, but thankfully the photo session went well. Here are a few highlights from the session. They were good, but I have gotten just as good of ones myself. We are hitting up Picture People next time! THANKS JESS!!!
