11 Months Old

Hayden is 11 months old. Every month I say I can't believe how quickly it went, and I'm going to say it again. I can't believe how time flies! I am preparing birthday invitations and thinking about his first birthday party...yikes! My baby is growing up much too quickly. He is still an absolute joy to have around. He keeps me (and whoever is watching him) on my toes and I don't get to rest my feet often, but it is fun to watch him. He is so busy and into just about everything. He did much better than expected on our long road trip to Chicago and SD (post to come soon hopefully) and charmed all of our friends and family with his sweet smiles and his easy going yet adventurous personality.
  • eats more in one meal than his sister does all day long (no joke)
  • babbles alot, but you can really only understand "yook = look", "mama", "mo = more" and "yay"
  • climbs stairs (or dishwashers) pretty efficiently
  • can drink from a big boy cup and a sippy cup
  • 4 teeth and a whole top swollen jaw with one showing but not through yet
  • walks holding onto hands or a walker, cruises furniture (sometimes)
  • pulls up on everything, but can't always figure out how to get himself back down
  • points at things and says "yook"
  • really does have hair, it's just so blond you can't see it unless you are up close
  • loves to play peek a boo with everyone using his lovey to cover his face or his hands to cover his eyes (which sometimes means his ears)
  • claps and cheers for himself and Hannah and says "yay" while clapping
  • waves good-bye, but usually not on demand

Memorial Day

We had a little different Memorial Day than usual. In the past (for quite a few years) we have spent the weekend on the lake and on the boat. This year we didn't think our house opportunity was going to go through and the boat is out of commission. Instead we settled for a (wonderful) dinner at Jaime and Ned's new Condo. Fortunately, they have a great little beach area so the kids were able to swim before we ate. It was a little too chilly for the rest of us, but Justin was a good Daddy and swam out to the floating dock with Hannah so she could jump off and swim around deeper. Hayden was not into it at first, I think the cold was a shock to him. After he acclimated to it, he loved it and splashed around and had a ball.

Let's get this show on the road people!
This looks great, I can't wait!
On second thought...what have I gotten myself into?

Ok, I got this now!

Ready to go! Let's go! Come on! Now!

I remember what to do!

10 Months Old (significantly late)

I am very late getting these posted, I apologize. We had Memorial Day, my mom's birthday and a visit from some great friends that have kept me from posting.

Our "little dude" (as we all seem to call him) is growing up so quickly. He certainly keeps us on our toes. He is all boy and loving life. It is amazing to me how much he is like Hannah, but yet how different they are too. Needless to say, our house never stops moving, and is never quiet (two things they have in common).

  • seems to be gaining some weight, although haven't had an official weigh-in
  • finally wears 9 month clothing, but still fits into 6 month pretty well (and a few 3-6 month outfits)
  • eats anything you put in front of him and has to be cut off from food as he would just continue to keep stuffing himself: bananas still rank as a favorite as well as sweet potatoes and watermelon
  • often eats more than his sister at any given meal
  • has two teeth on top and two on bottom (and more to come sooner than later, lots of swollen bulges)
  • is a very fast crawler and only resorts to his army scoot when he is trying to get into tight spots (like behind the toilet)
  • loves to dig in the dirt (the potted plant), wash windows and blinds (with drool), strip paint (with his teeth), move furniture, and wash his hands (in the toilet). He is despretly trying to figure out how to get out of doors and up the stairs (Heaven help us when he does)
  • LOVES to push cars or trains around and will use anything as a car if he doesn't have one available. I have even heard him making "car" noises.
  • chases balls all over the house
  • adores his big sister
  • says "mama" and it means me, and "mar" for more
  • loves his mommy :)
  • loves to point at things
  • babbles all the time, especially in his car seat
  • sleeps much, much better (yay!)
  • loves to be outside, especially in the wagon or on the swing
  • is very ticklish
  • is an extremely easy going, happy kid (except when he isn't...there is quite the extreme, but thankfully it doesn't happen often)
