So, I'm a little late getting this out since he's 7 weeks old today, but I guess it's better late than never. These pictures are from 6 weeks, not current..
Last week Hayden turned 6 weeks old. We celebrated by going to the orthopedist to get a follow up X-ray on his broken clavicle. We waited for over an hour to have the Dr. come in for 3 minutes (max, could have been more like 2 minutes) to tell us the break has healed. It's amazing how quickly bones can heal! The bone is a little thicker around the break site, but that will even out over time.
Hayden got his first bottle and had no problem. We started this a little late than I'd like, but Justin has some sort of nasty cold/sinus infection and he was trying to be as little "hands on" as possible. Unfortunately, Hannah got a touch of the same thing and she has a harder time with that concept. So far, Mommy and Hayden have been spared (Thank you God, from the bottom of my heart - a cold in a 5-6 week old would be a nervous break-down waiting to happen for Mommy). Anyway...I knew the bottle would be fine. Hayden has a great need to suck. You'd think he'd weigh a ton as much as he likes to suck, but to save Mommy so much pain he also loves the pacifier. The bottle was no different. Justin has to slow him down and stop him every half ounce/ounce or so because he was racing to finish and then mad when it was gone. It was 4 ounces so I know he just wanted to suck and it wasn't that he really wanted more milk.

6 Weeks has met us with several new challenges. The first thing that started happening was the spit-up. He's always kind of choked throughout the day and the nurse at the hospital said it was probably reflux. Well, now it's starting to come up. Sometimes it's more than others, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's a reflux problem and it's leading to problem #2...lack of sleep. As noted before, Hayden loves to eat and has no problem waking up every 2 hours to eat, it's very rarely 3 hours between feedings. The problem is he only sleeps if he's held. If you try to put him down, anywhere, he sleeps for 15 minutes maximum. Justin and I take turns letting him sleep on us in the chair at night, but it's quite exhausting. I really think the reflux bothers him when he lays down flat. We have more luck in the swing and will occasionally get a few hours of sleep in the swing at night and once or twice a week the swing has worked during the day for an hour and a half nap. If it weren't for my Moby Wrap, I don't think he's sleep at all. It's gotten much worse now that he is so much more alert. Yikes! I hope this gets better soon, it's just the newborn phase, right?
I'll update some more on the 26th with his two month pictures and update. Hopefully by then I"ll have a cute smiling picture. He has an awesome grin/smile but doesn't like to let the camera see it.
