First Solid

Hannah got her first taste of rice cereal on Sunday. She was VERY interested in it and opened her mouth for the spoon every time. We aren't sure how much she actually got into her tummy, but she sure did enjoy it, until the very end when she started getting tired (of the Bumbo? the cereal? the camera? or in general? Who knows...). Justin and I both took turns feeding her while the other one took pictures or video taped. It was a fun family moment.

4 Months Old

Hannah turned 4 months old on Saturday. I know I'm late getting this out, but I had a busy weekend and with school starting, I haven't had a minute to get on the computer, except to write lesson plans. I did manage to squeeze in a photo shoot on Saturday. I didn't get many smiling pictures (I can't seem to get them when I want them!) but I did get some good ones. Here are a few highlights from this month:

  • weighs 13.5 pounds (47th percentile)

  • is 25 inches long (78th percentile)
  • rolls over both ways
  • LOVES to stand
  • sits supported
  • reaches for Kodak and gets a fist full of hair
  • is mesmerized by Kodak and smiles when she sees him
  • likes to chew on just about anything
  • wants Mommy's water bottle badly
  • gets excited when she sees a bottle
  • loves to kick in the bathtub
  • has learned to raise her voice and squeal
  • likes to look at herself in the mirror

We (I) Survived!

We survived the first few days of work. It was nice to have just a few days and then the Really it's just I that survived it. Hannah was fine the whole time. Even when I had to wake her up (that was the worst part) to take her to Adam, she was smiling, talking, and playing. She did great with Adam and Madeline and with Mimi on Friday. Each day got a little better. It still wasn't easy or good for me, but there were less tears each day. Friday was the easiest because I got to leave her sleeping in her bed and I didn't have to disturb her. I'm hoping that once our real schedule starts (I get to go in later on workdays - leave the house at 7:15 instead of 6:15) she will just go back to sleep on the way to Adam's. Each day she has been exhausted by the time I picked her up or got home. She fell asleep on our way home each day and was sleeping when I got home Friday (I can't get the picture to load but will try again soon). I guess her days at home with Mommy were more boring! I'm so glad the worst (hopefully) is over and behind us!

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts, but please continue them because when the kids start back it will be a whole different ball game.

Last Day

Today is my last day of summer vacation. How can that be? Back in the spring it felt like I would be at home with Hannah for such a long time. 3 1/2 months have absolutely flown by and it is definitely not long enough!!!! In years past I've tried to enjoy my last day off. I can't seem to enjoy today at all. How can I leave my sweet baby girl? Every time we do something today I think, this is the last time I will...

I had to go to school for a full day last Friday and it was terrible. I cried myself to sleep Thursday night, cried the whole way to school and then when my principal asked how I was doing, I busted out the tears again. I eventually got over myself and got to my day, but it was WONDERFUL to come home and be with Hannah. Tomorrow is a full day, but even different from last Friday. On Friday I just left Hannah sleeping in her crib while Daddy slept and then Nana came to spend the day when Daddy went off to work. Tomorrow I actually have to wake her up, pack her up, and drop her off at the Connor's. I know she is going to a place where she is already loved and she will have the best time with Mr. Adam and Madeline. That certainly makes it easier, but not much.

Everyone says it gets easier, or you just get used to it. I'm sure it will, but please say a prayer for me over the next few weeks, especially these first few days. I am going to need all the prayers I can get!!!!

The Growing Girls

Please check out this great video on the Connor's blog. It was made by Mr. Adam and features the "Growing Girls". It is so sweet! Mr. Adam created it and Hannah just loves him. He is the one that Hannah will be staying with at least 2 days a week while Mommy goes to work. Hannah is so lucky to already have so many great friends already and her Mommy and Daddy are lucky to have their parents as friends!

Sassy Pants

Mimi bought Hannah some "sassy pants".They are cute reversible material that just ties on the sides over her diaper. They are perfect for Hannah because she is a naked baby most of the time. Our house is pretty warm and she has to be swaddled to sleep so the only time she wears clothes is when we have company or leave the house. The "sassy pants" are a little large for her yet (6-12 months) but I could resist putting them on Hannah and letting her play around while I took pictures. Right in the middle of me taking pictures she rolled right over. She has managed to roll over several more times since the eventful first time. The other day she rolled over with such force from her tummy to her back that she scared herself. It was quite amusing for me, but not for her!

PS. We're hoping that "Sassy Pants" will just remain the name of her clothing and not be a future nickname for our sweet Hannah! (although she did give me and Nana quite a prissy/sassy look on Friday that we both commented on...uhoh....)
