Our First Shower

Yesterday was our first baby shower! It was so exciting and made me even more ready for Hannah's arrival. The shower consisted of mostly Sunday School girls (and their babies), the two grandmothers and Aunt Erin. Words cannot express my gratitude to all of the ladies. It was a wonderful shower and we are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

Thank you so much Ali for throwing it and offering up your house. I know it wasn't easy for you as Mary Alice is so close to arriving! I greatly appreciate all that you did to make it so special and can't wait for our girls to grow up together.


Thank you Heather! Heather made the beautiful invitations and even made me a scrapbook page showcasing the invitation. She knows and shares my love scrapbooking! Heather also made the delicious cake we had at the shower. It was amazing and she was so thoughtful to include strawberries (of which she knew I can't get enough).


Thank you so everyone who helped out with food (I loved the fruit Katy!) and took time out of their Saturday to celebrate with me and Hannah. We can't wait to put the wonderful gifts to good use. We love you all!

Boxes

Our changing table is here and sitting in a box.

Our crib came in, we went and picked it up (Justin had Thursday off). Thank you Patrick for helping Justin get it up the stairs! It is also still sitting in a box.

We got our travel system from Mimi and Papa John (Thank you, thank you, to Justin's parents) and it is still sitting in a box.

I know we have time...but can I please tell you how impatient I am feeling about getting it all done!!! It's killing me to just look at the boxes.

Good Test Results

Yippee! I got a call saying that my sugar test was within the normal range. I'm so glad that is over and done with. I also have RA which can lead to Lupus (my levels have always been normal) which can lead to pregnancy complications. My doctor has been monitoring my levels very closely. I haven't had any problems at all with the RA, which is wonderful. I also got my newest results back from those tests and everything still looks good! Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts! Please continue to pray that my levels stay good.

Hannah's First Valentine Card

Hannah got her first Valentine's Day card. Surprisingly, it came in the mail. Thank you Erin B. for Hannah's Hello Kitty card. She can't wait to meet you too!

On a different note, this was the first Valentine's Day that Justin and I got to really see each other. In the past either I was in Rock Hill and he was in Irmo or since we've been married he was working late delivering the huge rush of flowers that UPS has to deliver. My very wonderful and sweet husband actually added to his co-workers load on Friday. He had Pro-Flowers delivered to me a school. I was totally surprised and shocked. On actual Valentine's Day we got up early (not Justin's idea of celebrating) and drove to Georgia with my whole family. My grandfather died in November and we actually had has funeral yesterday. It was a very small grave side service but very meaningful. We stayed around GA for a while visiting with my relatives and hanging out on the old farm. When we came home we had a family dinner at my parents house. My aunt and uncle were here from Idaho so we were able to get in some quality time. It's fun because Uncle Robbie is much more sentimental than my father and he tells stories about the past that my father has seem to have "forgotten". We spend a lot of time laughing and the antics of the wild Miller boys. It was a different kind of Valentine's Day, but still a good one.

Doctor Update

I went for my 28 week checkup this afternoon. It was the dreaded sugar test. The orange stuff didn't test terrible, but it made me feel nasty afterwards. I felt so bloated and full and then a little nauseous. I'm glad that it's over! I have to wait a few days for the results, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to do the longer more involved test. While I was waiting to get my blood drawn I saw the doctor. She measured me and said that I was measuring right on track and that my weight gain was very healthy. She then tried to get Hannah's heartbeat. She kept mentioning how active Hannah was being and even said, "This is the most active baby I've seen today, you take the prize." Yet, she couldn't find the heartbeat. Even knowing that she was moving did not stop the panic mode for me. I held it together rather well as she sent me in for an ultrasound. It was such a HUGE relief to hear the heartbeat on the ultrasound equipment. The tech found it right away and it was very strong. I was being fit in between patients so I didn't get a great look at the baby, but she did try for a second to get a face shot for me. It didn't happen, Hannah was moving too much and always looking away, but I did get a profile shot. Considering I was in the room for about 2 minutes, I was happy with that! Thanks to Jeffry and Jaime and my wonderful printer combo I got for Christmas, I can share my picture with all of you.

28 Weeks

It's amazing what people will say about your size. At a birthday party yesterday (a super cute 1 year old - great party Kelly!) I heard over and over how small I looked and I didn't look as far along as I am. Then, this morning at church I heard the exact opposite. A well meaning lady told me "You must be getting pretty close!" I'll let you all judge for yourself. I do have to admit though that the shirt I was wearing yesterday (in the picture) was quite fluffy, but that's when I got the small comments. Oh well.

It's Official

We have officially decided on Hannah's middle name. I know, it's about time. For several weeks now anytime anyone asked either of us what we had decided, we would both say the same thing, but we just hadn't made it official. Well, it is now. Hannah's middle name is Ellis. This is/was my middle name and my Granny's (who I loved dearly) maiden name. Not to mention my Grandma Ellis lived to be like 97. We're hoping the good genes will be passed down with the name. So, the family name won out.
